Looking Forward

We find ourselves in an unprecedented moment, one that calls us to answer the question: What kind of world do we want to build?
As we shift from fighting for our rights to fighting for our lives, at Booker T., we are doing what we’ve always done — step up and meet the moment.
In our 107-year history, Booker T. has seen oppression, pandemics, and displacement, but we've also seen grit and fight, ingenuity, celebration, and joy. We’ve adapted with intention and care to be an anchor for our community and a portal to a new world.
Booker T. is being called upon to absorb an increasing share of the community's needs, no longer just in District 5, but the wider San Francisco area. As other community-based organizations reduce capacity or shut down, the demand for our quality programs continues.

To meet this moment, we will, over the next two years:
Expand to a second site to make sure we can meet all of the needs of our community.
Increase Black-centered housing and services in Fillmore/Western Addition.
Participate in coalitions and policy actions to support community health, wellness and housing across all of San Francisco.
Enable civic participation and engagement via intergenerational bonds.
Continue to create and celebrate authentic Black spaces.
